Royal Derby Hotel is a true Fitzroy pub with great food, ice-cold beer, live sport and the best beer garden in the area. Our massive beer garden is a perfect spot to settle in for a few beers, catch up with mates, enjoy a meal or spend the afternoon in the sun.
It was opened in 1854 by John Telgate and was originally called the William Tell Hotel. Numerous name changes followed, including the Globe Hotel, Woods Hotel, Derby Hotel, and finally in 1875, the Royal Derby Hotel.
WEEKLY SPECIALS
There’s always something on with our weekly specials. $25 Wednesday steak night and $25 Thursday parma night are big hits, and on Friday night you can settle in with our $18 beef and Guinness pie, the meat tray raffle and the weekly game live on the TV.
If you’re feeling competitive, we also have two pool tables, with free pool on Wednesday and Thursday nights and a Thursday night pool comp where the winner takes it all.

We are FITZROY'S HOME OF LIVE SPORT, showing all the action live and loud across 16 TVs throughout the venue. AFL is at the heart of the Derby, alongside NRL, UFC, horse racing and major sporting events like the Soccer World Cup, Super Bowl day, the Anzac Day clash, Spring Carnival and the NRL State of Origin.

We're the proud home of the Brisbane Lions FC, NZ Warriors FC, the "Who The Fook" podcast crew and the Royal Derby horse racing punters club that gather every Saturday afternoon to punt on all the racing action.
